More than any relevant business book or inspiring Ted Talk I found the secret to my professional success in community. Specifically, at the beginning of my journey in 2013, I joined a private group of 15 other group practice owners across the country.  

We learned as we grew. For the next ten years, we fully opened our financials, shared best practices on processes and systems, and discussed growth plans. We processed thorny issues around staffing and ethics. And yes, we collectively took turns holding the tissue box for the inevitable breakdowns because business ownership is hard and was way more challenging than any of us expected.

Along with the amazing and consistent emotional support, we recognized an amazing upside in our time as a group, with the revenue growth per practice averaged 1,000%. Yes, you read that right! As therapists, we graduated with degrees mental health, not an MBA, but with our collective wisdom and emotional support, we explosively grew our bottom lines, walked each other through many challenges, and loudly cheered our successes from the sidelines.
